Wesley Plates

July 1949

South Yorkshire Times – Saturday 9 July 1949

Have you seen any plates like these? They are in the possession of Mr. W. H. Bagnall, licensee of the Station Hotel, Swinton, and bear no maker’s mark. They are still part of the valuation of the premises.

The plate on the left bears a portrait of John Wesley and bears the words “The Rev. John Wesley, A.M., founder of the Wesleyan Methodist Society, established 1739. “The best of all God is with us.”

The other reads “Adam Clarke, L.L.D., F.S.A., Wesleyan Minister. He that believeth shall be saved”
