Letter Home

A well-known Swinton man, Mr Leslie Williamson, who for the past four years has travelled the North and South of New Zealand, wrote an interesting letter home this week to his parents, Mr and Mrs Richard Williamson, 125, Queen Street, Swinton.

The letter was sent from Te Kufti, where Mr Williamson is living at the moment.

Before he went to New Zealand four years ago, Mr Williamson was in the army for six years, but previously worked for seven years at Manvers Main Coke ovens as a fitter. He has travelled a great deal in New Zealand, working in many different places as an engineer, and a tobacco farm, in forestry, planting, and at many other different jobs which he has enjoyed very much.

His parents are hoping their only son will become coming home in the near future, either this year or next.
