Leonard Hutton Attends Swinton C.C.’s Dinner

Leonard Hutton and Cyril Turner, the Yorkshire County cricketers, were amongst those present at a dinner organised the Swinton Yorkshire Council Cricket Club last night.

Mr. C. W. Peat, chairman of the cricket section of the Swinton Athletic Club, presided over a gathering of about 40 players and friends, and said that although the team had not achieved very good results recently, the spirit amongst the players was the best, and he thought that when they obtained two or three pood payers they would return to their former success in the various competition.

He was giving no secrets away when asserted that they would obtain those players.

Colin Kilner well known in the district as a batsman proposed the toast of the Club, and spoke of the past glories the Swinton club and Mr. C. Ward, chairman of the Athletic Club replied.

Mr. T. Ford proposed the toast of The Visitors, and Leonard Hatton replied. He said when he played for Pudsey they went through pretty well the same experience as Swinton but when they obtained one or two good young players improvement followed.

He referred to the fine spirit prevailing in Yorkshire County side which made so much for their success.

The arrangements were made by the secretary, Mr. F. Young.
