Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stretton, of 132, Station Street, Swinton, celebrated their Golden Wedding on Saturday.
They were married at Rotherham Register Office on July 18th, 1892.
Mr. Stretton, who is 70, worked at Aldwarke Colliery for 25 years, Mr. and Mrs. Stratton but left the pit because of ill-health. He was later employed for 12 years by the Royal Liver Insurance Company and retired three years ago.
Born at Nottingham, Mr. Stretton came to Kilnhurst when he was 13 and has lived in the district ever since. His wife, who will be 68 next month, has lived in South Yorkshire all her life. She was born at Rotherham and went to Kilnhurst at the age of three. Both enjoy good health.
Mr. and Mrs. Stretton have two daughters, both married, and three grandchildren, one of whom is in the R.A.F., and another, a nurse at Birmingham.
