Drama Festivals.

Until last year the Drama Festival was a form of competition unknown in this part of the country. But about eleven months ago it was tried in Sheffield, and went so well that this autumn it is going to be tried again.

It will be recalled that one of the Playgoers’ Society’s teams only failed on account of a technicality to obtain a place among the finalists London. The movement has now extended to South Yorkshire, where a Drama Festival is to be given in early November.

The locality is Swinton, the home of that very enterprising body, the Swinton Players. There are, we see, to be two nights of it, with five one-act plays a night, beginning at seven o’clock.

This is good, hard going ; none of your dilettante after-dinner trifling with the drama at Swinton.
