Diamond Wedding Day For Swinton Octogenarians
Celebrating their Diamond Wedding to-day (Friday) with a small family party are Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Burton, 41, St, Mary’s Crescent, Swinton. Mr. Burton is 80 and and his wife 82.
Both natives of Rotherham, Mr. and Mrs. Burton were married in Rotherham but have spent 54 years of their married life in the Swinton Bridge area before moving to their new bungalow last week.
Mr. Burton worked for 46 years at Messrs Baker and Bessemer as a charge hand boiler fireman. He retired 10 years ago. Prior to working at Kilnhurst he was a loco driver at Canklow.
Mr. and Mrs. Button have had 10 Children of whom three survive -Mrs. T. N. Jones, Storey Street, Swinton, Mr. M. Burton, Broadway, Swinton, and Mrs. M. Dainty, Park Road, Swinton.
They had six great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. The couple are to celebrate the occasion with a small family party as they celebrated their Golden Wedding.
