Swinton colliery engine winder, James Burgon (59), was fined £10 at Doncaster on Saturday for driving a motor car when under the influence of drink. His licence was suspended.

It was alleged that he drove along the Bawtry – Tickhlll road in zig-zag manner and Police Inspector Wolfe, driving his car had pull up, despite which, defendant collided with him, and drove off.

Summonses for driving dangerously, and failing to stop after an accident, were adjoined, and he was ordered to pay 4s costs for failing to sign his driving licence
