Mexborough & Swinton Times – Friday 14 April 1933
Councillor Arthur Carr
Councillor Arthur Carr (he is in office until to-morrow) is deserving of public thanks for his services to Swinton, and we take the privilege on behalf of Swinton to say “Thank you” for what he has done.
He has served continuously for years, being chairman of the Council twice in this period, a member throughout of the Hospital Board, a former member of the Gas Board, Education Committee, and Public Assistance Committee, besides acting in numerous other municipal capacities.
He has been rejected, but even his opponents will admit that he has served his town well. He has a proud record of service which in other spheres of life would be recognised more suitably than by this small tribute.
