Boat Overturned.

Coroner’s Comments on Double Fatality at Conisbro .

An inquest was held at Conisbro,’ yesterday, on Cecil Crummack and Wilfred Storer, colliery haulage boys of Swinton, who were drowned in the Don Good Friday.

Arthur Bramhill, labourer, said there were four of them in the party. On rowing bark from Rainbow Bridge Crummack and Storer, while changing places, overturned the boat. Pearson, the other boy, swam to the bank, while the witness attempted to save Crummack and Storer, who, however, sank.

The Coroner said that the Don at this point was extremely dangerous. The boat, too, was small for four passengers.

He urged the proprietor in his own interests to regulate this matter and to have painted upon all his boats the number of passengers they might safely carry. He added that should also ask the Doncaster Rural District Council to exercise any power they might possess for the regulation and control of pleasure boat traffic.

A verdict accidental death was recorded
