Mr J. B. Vickers, of 30, Brookfield Avenue, Swinton, is the works manager of the Kilnhurst Chemical Works —a branch of the Yorkshire Tar Distillers, Ltd.

He is popular with the Kilnhurst British Legion branch, of which he is vice-president.

Although he is interested in every branch of Swinton Council work, he particularly anxious that the district shall be adequately protected in the event of air raids.

Mr. Vickers had the unforgettable experience during the war of being a bomber pilot and is, consequently extremely interested in air raid precautions work.
