Wedding: Lynn & Merriman

At Conisborough Parish Church on Wednesday, Miss Mary Jane Merriman, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Merriman, Daylands Avenue, Conisborough, was married to Mr. Kenneth Lynn, only son of Mr .and Mrs. J. Lynn of Cleethorpes, formerly of Mexborough.

The officiating clergyman was the Rev. J. Ellis Robinson. The bride wore a long white gown of cire lace with frills of organdie at the shoulders, and a crystal necklace pendant, and carried a bouquet of cream roses. She was given away by her father. A little niece of the bridegroom, Kathleen Day, wearing a dress of green crepe de Chine trimmed with frills and carrying a basket of flowers, was the bridesmaid. Mr. Ronald Merriman, brother of the bride, was best man and Mr. Clifford Merriman and Mr. Q. J. Trafford were the groomsmen.

The organist of St. Peter’s Church played Mendelesohn’s “Wedding March” and the Bridal March from “Lohengrin” A reception followed at the Danum Hotel, Doncaster, and later the couple left for Llandudno, where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride travelled in a grey dress of crepe marocain with grey coat and brown hat.

The bridegroom is on the teaching staff at Swinton Bridge School, and from his colleagues there he received an oak kerb. Both he and the bride are former students of Mexborough Secondary School. Their future residence is Fitzwilliam Avenue, Wath-on-Dearne. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a wireless set and the bride received a coffee table from the bridegroom.
