Swinton Journalist Married

Liversidge-Marshall.

Mr. Alfred Liversidge, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Liversidge, 82, Fitzwilliam Street., Swinton, a member of the editorial staff of the “South Yorkshire Times,” and organist, of the Swinton Parish Church, was on Saturday married to Miss Gertrude Edith Marshall, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Marshall, 36, Bridge Road, Itchen, Southampton.

The ceremony, which took place at the Roman Catholic Church of St, Patrick, was performed by the Rev. Arnaldo Violini. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in an ankle-length gown of parchment satin beaute of simple design, with coatee to match. A small hat with veil to tone completed her toilette, and she carried a bouquet of sweet peas.

She was attended by her slaters, Miss Mary and Miss Cecilia Marshall, who also carried sheaves of sweet peas. Miss Cecilia Marshall wore shell pink satin beaute, and Miss Mary Marshall turquoise-blue satin beaute, and both wore lace straw hits, and coatees to match their dresses.

A small attendant was Miss Betty Butcher, cousin of the bride, who wore floral taffeta with a pretty Juliet cap and carried a posy of roses. The best man was Mr. H. D. Liversidge, the bridegroom’s brother, and Mr. K. W. Foster, a cousin of the bridegroom, was the groomsman.

A reception was held by the bride’s parents after the ceremony, at Mitchell’s Restaurant, Southampton. After the reception the bride and bridegroom left for Arundel, the bride travelling in a grey and blue coat with hat to match.

The bridegroom’s presents to the bridesmaids were a pearl necklet and a gold bangle, and the bride and bridegroom received many handsome gifts, including an oak chiming clock from the editorial staff of the “South Yorkshire Times” and a cheque, from Mr. W. P. Turner, managing director of the “South Yorkshire Times.”
