April 1941

Mexborough & Swinton Times – Saturday 19 April 1941

Miss Mary Bower Creighton, elder daughter of Coun. M. Creighton, J.P., former chairman of Swinton Urban Council, of “Sunnyinede,” Swinton, and the late Mrs. Creighton, was married at St. Margaret’s Church, Swinton, yesterday, to Mr. Arthur William Hornsey Pack, B.Sc., only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Pack, of Mill Road, Kettering.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. W. L. Bedford and the Rev. T. G. Rogers. The bridegroom’s cousin, Mr. Kenneth Mobbs, was organist, and accompanied the singing of the hymns, “O Perfect Love,” and “Lead Us Heavenly Father,” besides playing other appropriate music. A gown of ivory satin brocade cut on classical lines with a full train, which the bride herself had made, and a silk embroidered veil surmounted by a coronet of orange blossom, were worn by the bride, who was given away by her father, and carried a bouquet of lilies.

The bridesmaids, Miss Audrey Creighton and Miss Betty Pack, wore forget-me-not and blue georgette dresses respectively with full skirts and halo head-dresses of silk net to tone, trimmed with short veils. They carried pink double tulips and forget-me-note. The bridegroom’s gifts to’ them were pearl and diamante necklaces.
