Wedding – Brough & Cartwright
Miss Harriet Ann Brough, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Brough, 165, Queen Street, Swinton, and Mr. Lewis Sidney Cartwright, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Cartwright, of Birmingham, were married at Swinton Parish Church on December 26th by the Rev. T. G. Rogers.
The bride, who was given away by her father, was gowned in cream satin beige and lace with white lace veil and orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of pink carnations, lilies of the valley, and pink and white hyacinths.
The bridesmaids were Misses V. Brough (sister of the bride), D. Batty, M. Betts, G. Swift, J. Eades (cousins of the bride), and D. Depledge. Three wore dresses of blue satin beige with hats to tone, and three had peach satin beige with hats to match. Each also wore a necklace, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a bouquet of pink chrysanthemums.
The bride’s mother was attired in brown crepe trimmed with peach beige and hat to tone. The best man and groomsman were the bride’s brothers, Messrs. Roland and Edmund Brough.
A reception was held in the Queen Street School, and afterwards the couple left for a honeymoon in the South of England, the bride travelling in a blue costume with hat to match. They are to reside in Birmingham.
