Warren Vale Road Improvement

Two pictures that give an idea of the shape the big improvement scheme on Warren Vale Road is to take.

The upper picture, taken looking towards Rawmarsh, shows where work has begun with the digging out of the bank to get the new road level, at a spot that will cut out entirely the extremely nasty bend and gradient just below Rosehill Park.

The lower picture, taken looking towards the Woodman, shows where the work takes on a different character: where the big dip down in the valley is reached, and thousands of tons of material are being used to lift up the level in order to cut down the gradients as much as possible.

It will be seen that the new road will cut right across the old one, thus straightening out the highway as well as doing away with the too steep gradients. A large number of local men, from Rawmarsh and Swinton, in due proportions, are being employed on the work.
