To Play a Team

Mr EJ Griffith of Thornleigh, Swinton, a well-known county chess player and captain of the Rotherham team, left for Holland yesterday (Thursday) when he will play 20 simultaneous games of chess with Dutchmen. This has never been attempted by an Englishman.

The games will take place next Wednesday at Amersfoort. The team he will play will be the Amersfoort and District Chess Team.

Mr Griffith is a member of many local organisations and is County vice president of the British Legion and chairman of Rother Valley Divisional Conservative Association.

Mr Griffiths has won every chess trophy.
