The Unlucky Thirteenth.
The Swinton stove grate workers gave a hearty welcome home to their returned soldiers at a tea and concert held at the Ship Inn, Swinton, in their honour.
Thirteen of the workmen went to the war, and one—C. Taylor—was killed.
His framed photograph was presented the workmen to his father, and all the returned men received a monetary grant from a fund created their interests during the war.
Mr. H. H. Sanderson, manager of the Queen’s Foundry (Hattersley Bros.), Swinton, presided over a very pleasant function.
