Swinton’s Trees
Swinton’s trees will be coming under close scrutiny during the next month. Single trees, groups of trees, old ones and young ones will merit equal attention.
And the tree watchers—the 13 members of Swinton Urban Council —will decide which trees should be included in their Tree Preservation Order.
Special attention will be paid to trees which the Ministry of Town and Country Planning have suggested should be excluded from the order.
The dangers of indiscriminate removal of trees in a town such as Swinton were emphasised by County Coun. M. Creighton at the Council’s meeting on Wednesday such places as the Churchyard and Fitzwilliam Street were particularly dependent upon trees for their charm.
