Swinton’s Freak Chick

On Sunday a bantam belonging to Mr. V. C. Grant, hairdresser, of Swinton, hatched a chicken with four legs. It was dark grey in colour and had no wings, but each of the legs had a full set of claws

Although the chicken was hatched alive it died soon afterwards, and it is thought that the mother probably killed her unusual offspring, as its head was battered.

The other four chicks hatched at the same time are perfectly normal.
