Swinton’s Fears

The fears of the Council that Swinton might lose its identity under the new postal arrangements which make Mexborough the centre of the district, have been set at rest by a communication from Captain C. R. Mitten, head postmaster Rotherham.

Captain Mitten reviewing the arrangements, which will come into force 21 March, points out that Swinton’s address will in future Swinton, Mexborough, Yorkshire, instead of Swinton, Rotherham. Yorkshire.

Under the new scheme all mails to and from Mexborough will be depatched direct to and received direct from other offices, instead first being sorted at Rotherham.

An extension of the latest times of posting at Mexborough Post Office will be made possible.
