Swinton Pony Drivers Fined
Arthur Oates, pony driver, of Swinton, was Saturday at the Doncaster West Riding Police Court fined 22s for breach of special colliery rule 4 at Manvers Main Colliery on May 6th.
The defendant sent a pony up an incline, which was worked in power, and the animal was knocked down by a train of corves. A bar supporting the roof was also knocked down. He stated that the pony ran away from him.
Stanley Marriott, another ponv driver, employed the same colliery, was fined 1s. and 19s. costs for riding on links between the tubs of train.
