Riding to Coffin Corner

” It will cost you five shillings for your ride,” said Mr. J. S. Colton Fox, Chairman, at Rotherham West Riding Court, on Monday, fining a man for having ridden as an additional passenger on a bicycle.

He was Robert Bell (33), miner, of 6, Browning Road, Mexborough. Albert Brookes (37), miner, of 37, Arnold Crescent, Mexborough, was fined 10s, for having carried Bell on his bicycle at Church Street, Swinton, on August 11th.

Arthur Eyre (27), miner, of 17, Milton Street, Swinton, was fined 10s. for having carried Fred Hully (27), miner, of 43, Arnold Crescent, Mexborough, on his bicycle about the same time and place.

Hully was fined 10s. for having ridden on the cycle.

P.c. Short said all the defendants were riding down Church Street towards Coffin Corner.
