Swinton Man’s Removal.

William Noakes, miner, of 35, Slade Road, Swinton, was at Rotherham West Riding Police Court, on. Monday, summoned for having fraudulently removed his goods, on December 17th. Mr. A H. Jackson prosecuted on behalf of the Swinton Urban District Council,

Mr. H. Jones a, collector employed by the Council, said that defendant lived in a Council house, for which the rent was 11s. 6d. per week. Defendant left the house without giving notice. On December 17th, the date when he left, his arrears of rent amounted to £16 6s 6d. The Council were unable to find where defendant had gone until February 7th. He left a lodger in the house, and went to Meltham, near Huddersfield, and had obtained a situation there.

In a letter to the Court defendant said he would pay off the arrears at 2s. a month.

An order for the payment at 4s, a week was made.
