Swinton Man’s Distinction

Mr. Brian Butterfield, member of a well-known Swinton family of funeral directors, has been accepted as a member of the British Institute of Embalmers.

Mr. Butterfield (27), of Clayfield View, Mexborough, qualified as an embalmer and member of the Institute after studying at Leeds and Birmingham schools.

Married with a son, David (4), Mr. Butterfield has for the last three years been vice-chairman of the Doncaster branch of the National Association of Funeral Directors, and is the youngest director of C. T. Butterfield and Sons Ltd., whose headquarters are at Wood Street, Swinton.

Mr. Butterfield, who seven years ago was awarded the National Association of Funeral Directors’ Diploma, is now the only qualified member of the Institute in the Mexborough area.

His father, Mr. Alfred Butterfield, is a senior director in the family firm, which was founded at Swinton 96 years ago.
