Swinton Firm’s Red Cross Effort Raises £108

A special Christmas competition, prizes for which were given by Messrs. Ward and Sons (Swinton) Ltd., took place at the Roxy Picture House. Swinton, on Tuesday.
Coun. H. E. Kershaw said that the proceeds of the effort were for the Red Cross Prisoners of War Fund. He thanked Coun. Tingle for his help, the proprietor and manager of the Picture House, the staff of Messrs. Ward and Sons, Mr. G. Woods, and all who had helped the effort.
He then handed a cheque for £108 to the hon. secretary of Swinton Red Cross Committee. Miss F. I. Gillett.
Competition winners were Colin Rose, 185, Wath Road. Mexborough (one bottle each of whisky, gin and port), J. A. Binney, 173, Green Lane, Rawmarsh (one bottle each of rum and port), and Mr. Plater, Imperial Club, Mexborough (one bottle of whisky).
