Swinton Army Cadet Corps Wall Scale

A wall-scaling demonstration by members of the Swinton Army Cadet Corps, given as part of the opening programme of their Brigade Week last week-end.

Saturday saw the opening of the Cadet Week organised by the Swinton and Kilnhurst Company of the Army Cadet Force, the aim of which is to raise money with which to equip the company with a drum and bugle band. Financially, the week has been successful, so far, raising about £50 towards this object, and has given residents the opportunity of seeing at first hand the training the cadets receive.

Doncaster Army Cadet Band headed an opening parade through Swinton on Saturday, consisting of the Swinton and Kilnhurst companies, under Captain F. Ward, Mexborough Army Cadet Corps under Capt. F. Williams and the Wath company under Capt. J. Macaskill. The parade assembled at the Don Hotel where it was inspected by the Col. Commandant for the West Riding, Col. R. T. Goldthorpe, D.S.O., T.D. who also took the salute at a march-past at Harrop Gardens, Lt.-Col. Hodgkinson, M.C., T.D., (Area Training Officer, West Riding), accompanied him.
