Rockingham Extend Swinton
Extended further than they have been previously this season, Swinton lost seven wickets before passing Rockingham’s score of 67 at Swinton on Saturday.
J Moxon and F. Fisher settled down to score 23 land 17 respectively for the visitors, whose wickets were taken by E. Cadman (5 for 17), and I. Ellison (4 for 33).
Bedford (17), G. Barnett(l6), and W Broadhead (15), got the biggest share of Swinton’s runs. A. Broadhead was Rockingham’s best bowler, taking 4 for 38. H Fish had 2 for 33
Elsecar’s Good Win.
Hits of 67 and 60 by J Northcliffe and the Rev. H. J. Barnard took Eisecar a long way towards the 212 they scored before declaring for eight wickets in their away match with Mexborough, whom they beat by over 100 runs.
Bob White had a merry time and sent eight Mexborough batsmen back to the pavilion for 47, and they were there joined by their two remaining team mates for just 100 runs. The

Wardle Gets Eight Wickets.
Brampton’s former left arm spin bowler, Wardle, was chiefly responsible for their downfall against Denaby at Brampton. He took eight wickets for 30 runs. Brampton scored 111, and Denaby and Cadeby scored 115 for two wickets, their top scorer being A. Ellis 51. R. Rodgerson had 25 not out for Brampton.
Hickleton Square Accounts.
Doncaster, the only team who have gained a victory over Hickleton, were at Thurnscoe on Saturday, when Hickleton gained a six-wickets’ win. The match was set aside for the groundsman’s benefit and drew the best gate of the season. The visitors scored freely on a perfect wicket, after losing their first wicket for nine. W. Smith, joined by F. Hague, played good cricket to put 48 on before Smith was caught for 21 Hague carried on to be clean bowled by Sanderson when one short of his half century, with 90 on the board. The next four wickets fell for 6 runs, but the Doncaster tail wagged and the last wicket fell at 142, J. Sanderson claimed four wickets for 46.
Hickleton had only an hour and 45 minutes batting time, and went for the runs Opening with Alban Turner and H. Riley, runs came freely and Turner hit 50 in 45 minutes, and when Riley was stumped the pair had made 81 ; Riley contributed 29. Turner stayed to make 61, including six fours and a grand six J. Hutchinson joined by J. Sanderson lifted the score quickly, the latter making a quick 21. With 128 on the board Hutchinson was out for 24, and Hickleton reached 143 for four wickets with eight minutes to spare.
