Swinton 179 for 7 Darfield 26 

Swinton showed a gleam of their old form on Saturday, when they had Darfield as visitors for their first home match and took heavy toll of the rather weak Darfield bowling, declaring at 179 for 7.

L.V. Wilks, who had played two capital innings against Brampton in the South Yorkshire League, was given a well-deserved trial, and came off, giving one of the best of several fine batting displays, he and Sam Williamson both getting into the fifties.

The feature of the match, however, was the cricket of Pearce, who after hitting up 43 not out, bowled most destructively and sensationally, taking half the Darfield wickets for 3 runs. Darfield were helpless against Pearce and Thompson (another useful discovery) and were all out for 26.
