Swinton Man Fined.

For having stolen a black pomeranian dog from Harry Norman, a stove grate fitter, of Sydney Street, Swinton, Joseph Phillips (36), miner, of 4 Poplar Grove, Swinton, wat3 at Rotherham West Riding Police Court. on Monday, fined £1 and ordered to pay £2 3s. 8d. costs.

Harry Norman said he owned a month old pomeranian dog. On April 13 he saw his dog in the road in front of his house. The dog hail no collar on. He later noticed a woman carrying the, dog under her arm at Station Road. The woman said that, someone had bought the dog and had given it to her as a present. He informed the police who returned the dog to him on April 19.

William France, a steel works manager, or 31 Sandgate, Wath said he was in the Station Inn, Swinton, at 6.45 p.m. on April 13, when Phillips offered a dog for sale, which he bought for 5s. Phillips said the dog was his.

P.-e. Allonby said on April 20 he saw Phillips, who said that the dog had come into his house on Thursday, and had followed him to the Station inn, where a man gave him 5s. for it.
