Sgt. D. Cope – C.P.O. J. T Howlett – F. Howlett

Mrs. Grocott, of Church Street, Cudworth, sends us news of her brothers and two cousins in the Services as “all fit and well.” Her youngest brother, Chief Petty Officer John T. Howlett (22), was born at Cudworth, and attended Cudworth Modern School and Barnsley Technical College. Later he worked as a turner-fitter at Dale and Brown’s, Swinton. He has seen service with the Navy in destroyers, and has been nearly three years abroad, taking part in many actions.

His brother, Frank Howlett (30), has been with the M.E.F. for three years. He was born at Woodhouse, Sheffield, and was educated at Cudworth Pontefract Road and Barnsley Technical Schools. In civil life he worked at Manvers Main.

They are sons of Mrs. and the late Mr. Wm. Howlett of 4, Kelvin Street, Mexborough (formerly of Cudworth) Frank recently met his cousin, Staff-Sgt Douglas Cope in the Middle East.  Sgt. Cope is the son of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. Cope of Doncaster Road, Mexborough.
