Soldiers – Cridge Family – Swinton Family’s War Sacrifices

This week we give Photographs of Pte. Walter Cridge (West Yorks.), and his three soldier sons:

Pte. Ernest Cridge (York and Lancaster) (extreme right), killed at the battle of Loos, September, 1915;

Pte. Fred Cridge (Welsh Regiment.), (second left), ‘killed in Cambrai battle, 31st March, 1918, and wounded previously.

Pte. Percy R. Cridge (R.T. Rifles) (third from left), wounded three time, now discharged and at home.

Private W.J. Cridge (father) (extreme left) who enlisted in 1914, has over 30 years Army service to his credit. Pte. W.J. Cridge had been discharged from the Army but a day or two when his wife died, her death being hastened by grief at the loss of her sons.
