Private F. Tingle (York & Lancs)

Private Tingle of Piccadilly has been wounded in the left thigh by shrapnel and is in hospital in France.

He has written home to say that he enjoyed a narrow escape for a heavy piece of shell passed across his chest, destroying the content of one of his breast pockets.

Private Tingle is 19 years old.
