Swinton Man Severely Wounded
Private William Scholes, Piccadilly
Private Scholes has had the misfortune to lose his left leg through shrapnel shell, his right leg also being injured, and his back weak through shock effects. Writing home on Monday, he says there were about 20 of his chums together in their billet, when a bomb penetrated their dug out. Six of them were killed and all the others wounded. Scholes is now at Bevan Military Hospital in Kent.
Tom Scholes, brother to William has returned to duty after suffering “trench-feet.”
