Corporal Albert Pyott
K.O.Y.L.I.
Cpl Pyott, of 6 Victoria St, Roman Terrace, has been. killed in action in. France. His widow has received messages of sympathy from two of his comrades and also from his company commander.
From these letters it appears that he was killed by a sniper on Sept. 29.
He was 25 years of age, married, and had three children. Before enlistment, on November, 1911, he worked at the “Wall. Main, coke-ovens.
His parents reside in Wath. He is a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. J. Thorpe, of Victoria I street, Roman Ttrrace, who have six sons serving.
Cpl. Pyott ‘was wounded in the Battle of Loos.
Sergt. J. Boyd writes that Cpl. Pyott was killed by a sniper on Saturday, Sept. 22, about 10 a.m. “He died instantaneously, and is greatly missed and mourned by all who knew him. He was very willing and obliging, as brave as a lion, and had faced death on many previous occasions. He was a credit to the K.O.Y.T..1., who mournhis death. I found him a very willing and plucky soldier.”
