Local promotions and Decorations.

Sec.-Lieut. Edgar Oliver, M.C. (M.G.C.) of Wortley Avenue, Swinton, had his decorations gazetted last week.

The award was wide for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during recent operations.

“When his company commander and second in command wounded he assumed command of the company, visited all the guns, arranged ammunition supply, and reorganised everything.

During a withdrawal he collect all available men and fought as a regard till the next position was reached.

By his courage and cheerfulness he set a fine example to the men.”
