Private FW Lucas

Private Lucas who died in September 23 of wounds received in action in France, was a native of Swinton and attended at Swinton Bridge Council School and the Parish Church Sunday School.
He formerly worked at the Queen’s foundry as a filer. He was highly respected at work and in private life. He married nine years ago, a daughter of the late Mr George Parker of Swinton. Since then them carried on a small business in Gateford Road, Worksop, until private Lucas was called at last February.
He went to France in June.
His widow has received many tokens of sympathy.
Private Lucas’s father is Mr James Lucas who is well-known in Swinton. A memorial service will be held on Sunday afternoon at St Margaret’s Church, Swinton.
