Mexborough and Swinton Times July 14, 1917

Sergeant Horton

News had been received by Mrs John W Horton, of 20, Oxford Street, Swinton, that Sgt Horton (York and Lancaster) is officially reported missing from 7 June 1917.

He was engaged in the Hill 60 encounter, and was there taken prisoner.

Sgt Horton enlisted on September 2 1914, and was formerly employed at Wath colliery. It is hoped that he may be a prisoner in Germany.
