Died In Hong Kong

News has been received of the death of Gnr. William Henry Grint, son of Mrs. Grint and the late Mr. F. C. Grint, of 167, Wath Road, Mexborough.  Gnr. Grint died at Hong Kong, following an illness while a prisoner of war in Japanese hands.

A memorial service conducted by the Rev. J. H. Cretney was held on Sunday at the Salem Methodist Church. In addition to members of the family there were a good number of relatives and friends present. The minister spoke highly of Gnr. Grint and paid a tribute to his associations with that church.

He was educated at Roman Terrace Council School, and before joining the Forces he was employed at Barnburgh Main Colliery. Gnr. Grint leaves a widow and four children.
