Private France of 23 Spencer St, Wath Road, Swinton is unofficially reported killed in action.
He enlisted in August, 1916, and went to France in March, 1917. It is unofficially stated that his gun emplacoment was blown up, but his gun remained undamaged, and he continued to work it until a shell burst near by, and he was never men again.
He was aged 20, and before enlistment worked at Manvers Main on the surface.
