Prisoner Of War

News has this week reached Mrs. Turpin of Mexborough, sister of Gunner Edward M Farrier, late of Swinton, that he is now a prisoner of war in Germany.

The postcard, which is dated June 28th, states that Gunner Farrier is a prisoner of war and is in good health. Gunner Farrier has been in the Army nine years.

He was in the evacuation from Dunkirk, and sustained wounds. After a short spell in England he was sent abroad, and after eight months this is the first communication his relatives have received.

His eldest brother is a sergeant in the Army, and another brother is a corporal.
