The 8th Battalion York and Lancs Regiment was part of III Corps in the Great Advance. They were the leading Battalion to the left of the 70th Brigade, in the attack near Ovilliers.
The Battalion as it went over the parapet numbered 680 NCO’s and men and 23 officers.
Of these only 68 men returned
