Pte. Walter Depledge, (26), youngest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. G. Depledge, of 10, Stevenson’s Place, Bowbroom, Swinton, is in hospital at Birmingham suffering from the effects of heavy shelling as a member of the Force which attempted to relieve our Airborne Forces at Arnhem.

A militia man, he joined up in September, 1939, while employed as an excavator driver at Birmingham.  He went to France shortly after D-Day.

He was married a year ago to a Durham girl.
