Sapper George Darrell, 64 Queen-st., Swinton., who was killed in France, formerly worked at Stanley’s Oil Works, Wath.

He was a prominent member of the Wesleyan Reform Church. A memorial service was recently held.

A letter from his officer says :-

Spr. Darrell, a Corporal, and another Sapper, went placing in position some demolition charges when, on D morning of the sixth September, these exploded and all three men were killed  instantaneously.

Sapper Darrell was a, very good worker, always ready to do his share of the work cheerfully. His death is regretted by all who knew him.
