Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Cooke, of Lyndon Leigh, Church Street, Swinton, have received news from the Air Ministry that their only son, L/Ac. Ernest Cooke who was reported missing on Cos on October 3rd is now a prisoner in German hands.

L/Ac. Cooke, who is 23, joined the R.A.F. three years ago and has been abroad over two and a half years.  He is an old student of Swinton Bridge Boys’ School and Mexborough Secondary School.

Prior to enlisting he was employed in the maintenance department of T.W. Ward Ltd. Sheffield, as a clerk.
