Swinton Sapper Wounded
Sapper Chris Colton
(Royal Engineers)
We publish this week a photo of Sapper Chris Colton, of Stevenson’s place, Queen Street, who has been wounded by a bullet in the right foot, at Gallipoli, on New Year’s Eve. He is at present at Malta. His brother, Bugler Fred Colton, is a prisoner of war at Groningen, camp, Holland.
Another Swinton Bugler is there too, name Goulding, who, along with A.S. Burton Shaw, make a trio of Swinton youths at Groningen.
All took part in the last stand at Antwerp, and have much to say of it.
Charles Speak, who worked and lodged locally, has written from Groningen Camp to the secretary of the W.M. Club, Swinton to thank the members for the splendid parcel sent to him.
