A Swinton man, who has been in the Middle East for nine months and is now in Tunisia with the advancing imperial Forces, is Gunner John Callear of the R.H.A.

Gunner Callear lives at 6, Prince Street, Swinton, is married and has two boys. He is a Reservist and, with four years war service, has completed 13 years in the Army which he joined when 17. He was evacuated from Dunkirk.

Before the war he worked at Warren Vale Colliery.
