Soldier – Butterfield, John – Prisoner

Prisoner.

A well known Swinton man’s premonition that his brother was a prisoner war has come true.

Some time ago,  Mr. John Butterfield , and Mrs. C. . Butterfield, of 7 Wood Set, dreamed that his brother, Ronnie, a private in the R.A.M.C., was a prisoner of war.

Twp days later Ronnie was posted missing and now his parents have learned by wireless from a German source that he is a prisoner, having been captured in Crete.

Mr. and Mrs. Butterfield last heard from their son four days after being informed he was missing. They received a lee from Ronnie, which was posted in Crete on May 13th (before he was reported missing) saying he was all right.

Pte. Butterfield was sent to the East last year and has been in the Army since December, 1939. His father is grateful to all who have enquired about his son’s
