Gunner George A Brinkley who is now in France was brought up by his grandfather, Mr Arthur Cliff, and his aunt Miss H Cliff, at 7 Rowms Lane, Swinton, and attended the Swinton Bridge Board School.

On the death of his grandfather, his aunt removed to Doncaster, and Gunner Brinkley, prior to enlistment, over three years ago, worked at Brodworth.

He has been in all the British fighting since Mons, and one month ago received a shrapnel wound in the leg, for which he quickly recovered and returned to his battery.
