Thomas Beech (York and Lancs)

of William Street, a well-known local footballer, who has been missing since the battle of Loos, is officially reported dead.

Lance Corporal 15963 of the 10th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment.

Born in Swinton in 1888. Son of Thomas and Ann Beech of Swinton, Rotherham Yorkshire.

Husband of Elsie Jackson (formerly Beech), of 2 Beechville Avenue, Piccadilly, Swinton, Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

Died aged 28 on the 26th of September 1915. Remembered on the Loos Memorial, panel 105 and 106.

The Loos Memorial forms the side and back of Dud Corner Cemetery. Loos-en -Gohelle is a village 5Km north west of Lens in the Pas de Calais region of France. Formerly 15963 Private Beech of the York and Lancaster Regiment.
