Sisters Bound Over Twelve Months.
Lottie Smith and Doris Smith, two young sisters of Carlisle Street, Swinton were a Rotherham, yesterday, summoned by Lily Dobson, another single woman, and neighbour, assault.
Complainant said her mother was called as at witness against the mother of defendants about twelve months ago and since that time there had been a lot of trouble between them. The two defendants wore always “skitting and sneering’ at her.
On Sunday, November 20th, complainant was standing outside her door when, she alleged Doris Smith insulted her. Complainant ignored her and went indoors. That night defendant: ran after her, and Lottie Smith asked her what she had been saying about her. Complainant, said she did not wish to speak with either of them, and was moving away when Lottie Smith seized hold of her arms, pushed her against the wall and struck her.
Mr. Furniss (to defendants): Are you not nuisance both in your conduct and language, to the whole neighbourhood and lucre not the inhabitants petitioned the landlord to have you and your family removed from the. neighbourhood ?—No.
Mr. J. Colton Fox, who presided, said they were convinced the defendants were a nuisance to their neighbours, and they would both be bound over for twelve months in the sum of £3 and ordered to pay 15s each towards the cost of the prosecution.
